It is not the Grand Cherokee, but the short Jeep Cherokee 2014. It is reborn from the ashes to replace the Liberty which is no longer available for the 2013 model year. Like its predecessor, this Jeep is intended to those who ride as much or on the roads paved that off the beaten more often. That is, it offers a comfortable driving, but is doing very well – depending on the model – on difficult terrain. In fact, the range includes a homologated model Trail Rated and three other models to meet the varied needs of SUV buyers:

First automatic transmission of 9 category
Unveiled at the New York Auto Show last April, the brand new Jeep Cherokee will make its official entry on the roads of Quebec next autumn. The mid-size SUV is available with two engines – a four cylinders in line 2.4 L or a 3.2 L V6 – coupled with an automatic 9 reports. Three different four-wheel drive systems are available.
All versions are based on the CUSW (Compact U.S. Wide) platform, which also hosts the new Dodge Dart. However, the structure of the body of the Jeep Cherokee 2014 is made up approximately 65% of high strength steel. The design team of the Jeep Cherokee 2014 of different elements to promote fuel economy, including a 9 speed automatic transmission and an electronic power steering. Under the hood
All derive their power from a 4-cylinder 2.4 L MultiAir engine that generates 184 horsepower and a couple of 171 lb – ft. However, owners who want a little more or who want a capable vehicle to tow their favorite toys of the genus ATV, snowmobile or boat to their cabin or fishing camp have the possibility of choosing the V6 engine option. This engine is offered on the North, Limited and Trailhawk. The Pentastar V6 3.2 L, derived from the 3.6 L Pentastar V6, which develops 271 horsepower and 239 lb – ft of torque. With this engine, the Cherokee can tow a trailer of 2,041 kg, or the highest towing capacity of the category for a V6 engine.

Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk 2014
Homologous Trailhawk is Trail Rated for features of all equipment of the North model in addition to the Jeep Active Drive Lock system with differential rear self-locking. This system offers the same features as the Jeep Active Drive II, to which is added a rear differential locking for upper motor in low speed in extreme off-road conditions. This trails as equipment of course includes accessories functional as red tow hooks exclusive to Jeep at the front, protection under the bodywork and energetic shields at the front and rear plates. Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk offers an angle of attack of 29.8 degrees, an angle of flight 32.1 degrees and a ventral angle of 23.3 degrees. The moving ground clearance is 22.09 cm.
A little more about four-wheel drive systems
- Active Jeep Drive I
This fully automatic system allows to spend two to four wheel drive regardless of the speed and grip. The system requires no driver intervention, allows the correction of dynamic situations lace and improves both understeer and oversteer conditions.
- Active Jeep Drive II
This system has a supplementarily speed reducer allowing to obtain a range of short speeds. 4 Low mode provides increased driveability evolving terrain or for towing. The Low mode provides a reduction of 2.92:1. The gear ratio allows a better motor skills, as well as reports strong exceptional gear for extreme off-road conditions. Jeep Cherokee 2014 with Jeep Active Drive II offers the off-road amateur Fund enhanced 2.5 cm high, a report with high gear ratio of 47.8:1 when it is equipped with the new Pentastar V6 3.2 liter engine.
- Active Jeep Drive Lock
This system offers the same features as the Jeep Active Drive II, to which is added a rear differential locking for upper motor in low speed in extreme off-road conditions. The Jeep Active Drive Lock is standard on all models Trailhawk.
All 4 × 4 systems have the Jeep® traction management system Selec-Terrain, which allows the driver to choose the most suitable mode on road and off road, for optimal performance. Five custom modes are available: Auto, snow, Sport, sand/mud and rocky terrain. Using algorithms that allow unmatched control and capacity, Selec-Terrain coordinates and optimizes electronically up to 12 systems on any type of terrain and provides enhanced vehicle control: electronic control of brakes, electronic stability control (ESC), control of the gearbox, control of transmission and Selec-Speed Control (control of aid in the downhill and uphill).
