Audi A3 will showcase a host of new models. After discovering the next generation of the 2013 Audi S3 Sportback. The range of the new A3 gradually takes shape. After the new generation of the model presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the brand to the rings of World Paris Motor Show 2012 will unveil the declination Sportback’s compact sedan, but also the more sporty version, the S3.
Among these, we find first world for the Audi SQ5 Exclusive Concept, the Audi A3 Sportback TDI and finally, S3 of the declination. So for now we do not know the rate that will be practiced in France, the new Audi S3 will be sold from € 38.900 in Germany. Marketing will begin early next year.
Unfortunately, this more muscular version of the Audi A3 has never come to visit us in North America, and I do not think that it will be different with this new version, which promises.
The S3 unveiled in Paris is a hatchback with three doors, to the more dynamic style:
- Single Frame finish aluminum grid;
- Diffuser to four outputs for the exhaust system;
- Superb sport rims 18-inches;
- ‘S3’ logos.
We also learn that the car will be offered on European markets under 14 body colours.
Upcoming S3 coupe lost 60 pounds, for a total limited to 1395 kilos weight.
A cockpit that own
The sporty character of the car is seen also in its indoor presentation, which becomes:
- Sport seats more enveloping finishing leather;
- Inlays in aluminum brushed;
- Thresholds of doors welcoming logo S3;
- Exclusive instrumentation.
More powerful than ever
So far, the S3 version had an engine turbo 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder developing 265 horsepower. There is also in Europe, an even more thunderous version called RS3 that delivers a force of 340 horses.
But it is under the hood that Audi has worked. Always powered by the 2.0 TFSI block, it loses 5 pounds but gains especially in power. The car now develops a power of 300 HP and 380 Nm of torque, allowing it to achieve 0-100 mph in just 5.1 seconds when the engine is associated to the S Tronic gearbox. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
A sports car that gives the choice between a box manual six-speed or S Tronic dual-clutch seven-speed with paddles mounted around the steering wheel.
The manufacturer announces a mixed fuel consumption:
- 6.9 L / 100 km with the box S Tronic.
- 7.0 L / 100 km with box manual.
The marketing of the car will begin in Europe in early 2013.
